Two Ways to Help Children In Need

Pajama Drive Results

As many of you know we have been collecting for the Pajama Program, which provides warm pj’s and books to needy children waiting to be adopted.

We are very grateful and proud to be delivering over 30 pairs of pajamas and several great books to this program.
THANK YOU!

Hosting a pajama party or having a drive of your own is very easy.  Event ideas and all the materials needed are available online at www.pajamaprogram.org.

Mei Pan Jewelry – Beautiful Hope

If you have stopped in recently you may have noticed we have a new sparkle.  Last month we partnered with Julie Zimmerman of Mei Pan Jewelry.  All pieces are handmade using unique pieces of Jade, pearls and other semi-precious stones.  The proceeds go to support 3 orphanages in northern China and Mongolia.  Julie travels from Minnesota to China frequently to buy the stones she uses as well as to check in on her precious investments.  The story behind Mei Pan is as special as the jewelry itself.  We are happy to help support this big-hearted local business.  Stop in today and check out our sparkle.

Stand Down For Vets

Julie was honored to participate and provide acupuncture at the Stand Down For Vets event this summer.  The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans(NCHV) is a leading authority on homeless veterans issues and organizes events nation-wide.    NCHV (www.nchv.org) describes the Stand Down as:
“The original Stand Down for homeless veterans was modeled after the Stand Down concept used during the Vietnam War to provide a safe retreat for units returning from combat operations. At secure base camp areas, troops were able to take care of personal hygiene, get clean uniforms, enjoy warm meals, receive medical and dental care, mail and receive letters, and enjoy the camaraderie of friends in a safe environment. Stand Down afforded battle-weary soldiers the opportunity to renew their spirit, health and overall sense of well-being.

That is the purpose of the Stand Down for homeless veterans, and achieving those objectives requires a wide range of support services and time. The program is successful because it brings these services to one location, making them more accessible to homeless veterans.”
