‘The Last of Us’ and Chinese Medicine

It seems that everyone is watching The Last of Us! In the video game and the hit HBO series an outbreak of a mutant Cordyceps fungus ravages the United States, transforming its human hosts into aggressive creatures known as the “infected”.  Although cordyceps has been called the “zombie-ant fungus” it’s important to know that it does not infect humans. In fact, in Chinese medicine cordyceps and other mushrooms have been proven to be beneficial.
