Farewell to our Edina Clinic Space

It is with some sadness that we are announcing the closure of the Edina clinic location beginning October 12th.   We are grateful to have been able to serve you in Edina for the last 2.5 years and are hopeful that you will continue to receive acupuncture and herbal medicine in our St. Paul location.  It is no secret that the last few years have been challenging, and life has brought with it many things that none of us could have predicted.   Thank you for your trust and support as we work through this transition.

Yu Ping Feng San: An Herbal Formula for Fall

Just like that, fall is in the air. The changing leaves, the good sleeping weather, pumpkin spiced everything. These are all signs that we’ve turned the seasonal corner. Fall can be a truly magical time of year, but since it’s also the start of cold and flu season, having a few herbal formulas in our back pocket to keep our immune systems in tip top shape can help us feel good all season long. Let’s talk about one of my favorites: Yu Ping Feng San.

Chinese herbal formulas have beautiful names that can either describe what it does, what’s in it, or perhaps some other historical tidbit. Yu Ping Feng San translates into ‘Jade Screen Powder’ or sometimes ‘Jade Wind Screen Powder’. It describes the way that the formula acts like a screen, keeping out the wind outside that brings in the things that cause us to cough, sniffle, or generally just not feel good. Read More

Spotlight on:  Stomach 36 or Zu San Li

Stomach 36:  Zusanli or Leg three mile.
I want to write this blog post, but it has been a long day, and I am tired and not sure if I have it in me…if only I could go for another three miles….

Let me introduce you to Stomach 36, otherwise known as Zusanli, or Leg Three Mile.

Chances are, if you have ever received acupuncture, you have had the point we refer to as Stomach 36 included in your acupuncture or acupressure treatment.   Stomach 36, or Zu San Li, is a powerful and commonly used point located on the outside of your lower leg, just below the knee.

When learning this point,  we learned a traditional story: For one who is so tired and depleted and feel they just cannot continue, stimulate the point Stomach 36 and this will help them continue on for ‘three miles more’. Read More
