We’re Celebrating 10 Years with an Expansion!

Can you believe that Selby Acupuncture turned 10 years old last fall? We hardly know where the time went, but it has been such a fun and rewarding decade. We are so honored to work with all of you. Thank you for your trust as we assist your healthcare journey. Here’s to the next 10 years!

This milestone felt like an appropriate time to refresh and expand our space! We are thrilled to announce that we have expanded to add another treatment room and office as well as additional storage space. You will also notice updated paint, carpet and ceilings, as well as some new furniture and a brand new reception desk. Construction is underway and we expect our beautiful new space to be completed by mid-February. Don’t worry, we will still be in business during this time and promise not to put you to work! In the meantime, we posted a little tour on Facebook.

Also, we have just updated our website! We have been working on a complete overhaul and are excited to debut this fresh look. Hope you enjoy it!

As some of you may know, we are leaving the Blue Cross Blue Shield network in March. Read More

An Essential Oil Lineup for Fall & Winter

While I’m ambivalent toward pumpkin spice lattes, the arrival of fall is not without its own rituals for me. The cooler temperatures and blowing wind mean it’s time to take out the sweaters, close the windows, and seal up the house for the season. Though doing so make me somewhat wistful, fall also means I get to take out the diffuser and fill my home with the wonderful scents of essential oils to get me through the cold, dark months of winter. Here are some of my favorites!

Lavender is easily one of the most well-known and loved of essential oils. Commonly used in a variety of bath and skincare products, lavender may also have a relaxing and calming effect on the nervous system. A few drops in a diffuser or a warm bath is one of my favorite ways to wind down at the end of the week. Are you or your children having trouble sleeping? Try one single drop of organic lavender oil on the soles of the feet and see if you don’t sleep like a baby.

With its sweet floral aroma, Ylang Ylang pairs wonderfully with lavender in a bath or diffuser. Its effects are also Read More

White Bean & Chicken Chili

A wonderful alternative from a traditional chicken soup! The spices in this recipe are warm and comforting on these bitter days. I like to add more chicken to this recipe, but anything goes with this one. Have fun experimenting with a variety of soup ingredients too.

1 cup chopped onion

4 cloves of minced garlic

1 Tbs. olive oil

2 tsp. cumin

1 tsp. oregano

¼ tsp. red pepper flakes

¼ tsp. ground cloves

3 cans great northern beans

2 (4 ½ oz.) cans diced green chilis

4 cups chicken stock

3 cups cooked chicken

Cook onion and garlic in oil until transparent.

Stir in cumin, oregano, red pepper and cloves. Saute 2-3 minutes.

Stir in beans, chilis and chicken broth. Simmer 5 more minutes.

Add chicken and heat until warm throughout.
